Tai chi and qigong have been described as moving meditation. Some of the exercises (for example zhan zhuang) require particular mental focus.

What is meditation? There are many misconceptions about it with some people confuse it with unfocused relaxation whilst others view it with suspicion, seeing it as some kind of occult practice. Yet others think it is necessary not to have any thoughts whilst meditating.

In reality it is simply the use of focused relaxation to train the mind, and when movement is involved as well it develops the mind-body link.
